Simplifying On-the-road Charging Through EV Roaming with Agora

Making life easier for EV drivers on the road is the EV industry's goal with Agora. This initiative, funded by Natural Resources Canada, enables EV roaming between several charging networks, providing a simplified charging and payment experience for EV drivers and commercial vehicle fleet managers. Two major Canadian charging networks, the Electric Circuit and BC Hydro, and ChargeHub, a leader in EV roaming solutions, are the founding partners of the project.
Charging made easy
Charging networks that are interoperable accept payment from the account or application of any other partner network. For example, it will now be possible to charge your vehicle on the road without having to join the network associated with the charging point. From now on, EV drivers will be able to use a single online wallet and charge their vehicle with ease, for example using the mobile application of their usual charging network. It will no longer be necessary to create an account or download an application for each charging network used on the road.
An EV roaming awareness campaign
To demystify network interoperability or EV roaming, Agora has launched a Canada-wide campaign aimed at the public, fleet managers and the industry. To this end, a website has been set up to identify partner networks via an interactive search tool listing all the networks in North America. As Simon Ouellette, President and CEO of ChargeHub points out, "With the growth of public charging networks, we as an industry must always aim to offer the best charging experience for users."
The Agora website also includes a section dedicated to commercial fleet managers, with resources for learning about EV roaming such as webinars.
Stimulating EV adoption
By simplifying on-the-road charging for EV drivers, EV roaming represents a real step forward for vehicle electrification. With a simple, fast and efficient charging experience, Agora's partners, including Roulons électrique, are accelerating the electrification of transportation on a large scale.
