Roulez vert program

5 April 2024

During Budget Speech 2024-2025 on March 12, 2024, the Québec government announced a gradual reduction in the amount of financial assistance granted for the purchase of electric vehicles (EVs) as of January 1, 2025. The program will end on December 31, 2026. Financial assistance for buying and installing home, multi-unit and work charging stations will continue.

Financial assistance amounts for next years

Here is a table summarizing the amounts according to vehicle type and registration date. Please note that only the registration year will be taken into account when determining the amount of financial assistance. The financial assistance amounts will not be continued for people who ordered their vehicle before the scheduled dates of reduced financial assistance or who gave a deposit.

According to our latest survey, 40% of potential EV buyers plan to purchase their vehicle within the next two years. For these people, it will be more economically advantageous to take action before the end of 2024. EV sales could therefore accelerate over the coming months, well beyond the 240,000 EVs already registered in Québec.

The Running Electric online catalog lists all the EV models on sale in Québec and indicates subsidies where applicable. A key tool for anyone wishing to undertake exhaustive research for the purchase of their next vehicle.

Future EV buyers can also refer to the page on our site dedicated to provincial and federal financial assistance for the purchase of an EV. Don't forget that the federal rebate, which goes up to $5,000 for a new EV, is also still in effect.
