Project history and implementation
At Sept-Îles-based Numérik Solutions d'affaires, the transition to electrically powered equipment began in 2010. The company did not want to deal with the safety, health and environmental issues associated with gasoline, diesel or propane-powered equipment. The first electric lift truck was thus purchased that year.
Nine years later, the company leased a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV), and charging stations were installed and made available to employees free of charge with the help of government subsidies. In 2023, the PHEV was purchased as it meets the organization's needs.
Stages in the electrification of Numérik Solutions d'affaires' equipment fleet:
2010 |
Purchase of first electric lift truck |
2019 |
Purchase of 4th electric lift truck (suitable for road use) Lease of an PHEV Installation of charging stations |
2021 |
Acquisition of an electric lawnmower |
2023 |
Acquisition of the PHEV Acquisition of an electric snowblower |
For Numérik, electrification is a long-term strategy. Going electric is part of an overall approach to developing eco-friendly practices (carbon footprint, more energy-efficient buildings, etc.). In 2024, the organization intends to introduce incentives to encourage staff, many of whom are EV drivers, to carpool.
